Alcoholism and Education/Development

In many cases alcoholism has deeper lying causes that do not disappear once the drinker is sober.  

Education/development. A study by the McCords (ORIGINS OF ALCOHOLISM, Travistock Publications, 1959) has indicated the following negative circumstances as having an above average occurrence in the case of alcoholics.

Conflict between parents.

Poor religious experiences.

bullet

Nervous parents.

bullet

Sexual deviations by the parents.

bullet

Contradictory behaviour of especially the mother.

bullet

Sidestepping instead of addressing problems.

bullet

A father despising the mother.

bullet

A mother that is unhappy with her role as mother.

bullet

Lack of discipline.

bullet

Low expectations of the child.

bullet

Lack of leadership.
